Reducing Stress with Breath and Meditation
Bath Healthy & Happy Meetup
Our meetups are an opportunity to network with other like minded people and support each other on our healthy journeys! Over the coming months we will be looking for different speakers to share with the group on health related topics.
The way we breathe has an effect on all the systems in the body. It only takes minutes of conscious breathing to slow down the mind, relax tight muscles, lower blood pressure, improve the flow of oxygen to the brain, improve detoxification and increase the release of endorphins. With regular practice yogic breathing exercises clear blocked energy channels and increase vitality.
In this session we will focus on calming down the nervous system in times of stress. Our response to stress switches on the fight and flight response, which is useful in acute danger, but often becomes a chronic state leading to anxiety, sleeplessness and exhaustion. Using the breath as a tool we can reverse the stress response by activating the para-sympathetic nervous system to restore concentration and focus.
You will learn six effective techniques to incorporate into your lifestyle and to use in states of panic and stress anytime anywhere.
Bruni is a yoga, ayurveda and massage therapist based in Bradford on Avon. She is a senior trainer and visiting master for Ananda Spa in the Himalayas, Shanti Ananda Maurice, Six Senses and ITC hotels. For the last 15 years she worked with stressed business people, film crews, professional athletes, frustrated home makers, the rich and famous, disabled pensioners, children and mental health patients to support their journey to health, happiness, connection and peace of mind.
Afterwards there will be an opportunity to network over a cuppa or stay and join us for a festive lunch.
This event is £5 and includes a cuppa (availble in the Pavillion)
