Essential PR for Business Owners
Free of Charge thanks to the European Regional Development Fund, Bath and North East Somerset Council and other members of the Enterprising West of England consortium
This event is restricted to business based in Bath and North East Somerset.  If your business is based elsewhere please contact us to discuss how we may be able to help.
There are few business boosts quite as powerful or as persuasive as positive media coverage. This practical introduction to PR will equip you with the essential skills you need to generate valuable publicity about your business in the local, trade and consumer press. You will also learn how to write engaging content for social media.
The course is run by former business journalist and public relations expert Paul Mullins who has more than 20 years’ experience working in newspapers and communications. Paul is also an Associate Lecturer in PR at the University of the West of England.
By the end of the workshop you will be able to :

Create newsworthy stories about your business
Write professional news releases
Pitch stories confidently to journalists
Write great blogs that get shared
Use PR to achieve your business goals

The workshop includes a mix of teaching and practical writing and role-playing exercises.
What do I need to bring?
A laptop if you have one and something to write with.

Free English Lessons
7:30pm - 9pm

OTGE FREE ENGLISH COURSE with qualified English teachers to help you
This is a chance for people from countries (not the UK) to meet with others in the same position as them, to learn more English: improving pronunciation, gaining confidence speaking, learning new grammar and vocabulary. It is a relaxed, informal classroom setting with qualified teachers. This friendly group enables people to connect with others, find friends and have fun while getting better at English.
It is called Open to God English (OTGE) because it is run by people from St Saviour's Church and we use stories from the Bible as part of the lesson. We also have a theme, worksheets, games, and learn pronunciation through the Colour Vowel Chart. Individual help is given to students who need it during the lesson and we encourage people to ask questions.
If you are interested in joining the class,  just come along on the night and try it for yourself. Each lesson you will learn new things. There is a break for a hot drink and cake/biscuits for 15 minutes in the middle, so you can get to know the other students.
Once a term we have a social - eating a meal together or visiting somewhere interesting in Bath.
“I would like to thank you for your wonderful English lessons, your hard work, support and friendship” Ania
“It is a wonderful opportunity to learn about religious texts, correct pronunciation, for learning of language games, different topics.” Raia
“This course has helped me improve my pronunciation and also given me the opportunity to meet people from different countries” Claire
“Very helpful! A good way of learning English in a relaxed atmosphere. Bravo to the teachers who are volunteers, they do a really good job! They pay attention to every student. The thing I most like is the friendly atmosphere within the group and the tea break!”   Najeeb
Whatever your level - beginner or advanced, you are welcome to come along and start at any point in the course. We have a different theme each week - in the coming weeks we are doing: Friends and Family, Gardens and Plants, Emergencies, Animals and Birds. Further lessons are planned from 21st Feb to 21st March and through the summer term too.
The lessons are held in the upstairs classroom on the first floor at St Saviour's Church (in the door and up the stairs to the left) There is a lift for disabled access.
If you can't come every week - that's OK - come when you can. These lessons have helped many students become more fluent and confident in English and we can help you too.
Everyone is welcome: whatever faith you have or if you have no faith. There is an extra half hour from 9.00 to 9.30 (Open to God Extra) where we talk together about the Bible passage and discuss spirituality and different religions. This is optional, so students do not need to stay for this if they do not want to.
We look forward to meeting you :)

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
For adults at any level of English. Enquire with the organisers about older teenagers as sometimes they are permitted.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There is a bus service from town - ask for St Saviour's Church or the Balustrade on London Rd.
Car parking is available on the roads around the church and is free - no restrictions. It is generally a safe area to walk at night.
