Bath Repair Cafe Southdown 'HOW TO' use your sewing machine
Eventbrite.co.uk
10am - 12pm

Bath Repair Cafe will help to mend your items which are broken but we also want ot help people to repair their own things where possible.  We are running a HOW TO Use your Sewing machine  session at our next Repair Cafe in Southdown.  You will learn how to thread your machine and do the basics and learn about tension if that is a problem with your sewing.  You can come anytime betwee 10 and 12 but we prefer you to let us know by booking a ticket and telling us what time if that is possible.
We look forward to welcoming you.

A place to bring items to be mended for free.  Bath Repair Cafe has mended 70% of over 200 items since April 2017.  We want people to repair rather than buy again and prevent items going into landfill and news ones being manufactured.
We also want to show you how to maintain and use things to help yourself.  Come to our 'HOW TO' sessions on bike maintenance, use your sewing machine and power tools.
BBE Meet Up's Got No Talent?!?
The Bath & Bristol Everything Meetup Group
7pm - 11pm

Got a party piece? Ever fancied performing it but never had the nerve? Now is your chance!!

Calling all budding performers - amateur or otherwise! Can you sing, tell a joke, recite (or read) a poem, relay a funny story, play an instrument, mime, entertain, dance, impersonate someone, juggle, walk on stilts? You name it, you can do it! (Within reason!!)

Solos, duos, trios, group acts all welcome!

Looking to put on a fun night post Christmas blues when the evenings are still dank and dark. Are you willing to entertain - just for fun? You don't have to be professional, just up for a laugh!

RSVP and let me know what you might like to do. 5 minutes or so, is plenty, no pressure, it's just to have fun! There are no judges and certainly no big red X's buzzing you!! There are no spectators either, if you RSVP you're expected to do something :-) We have been offered someone's home as the venue. I will add more details and what food or drink you may be asked to bring, nothing flashy, just light nibbles!!

See comments below from last year's victims, I mean guests! ;-)

Can't wait!!

Great evening thank you for all your hard work lots of laughs and lots and lots of talent 😆

A lot of fun was had by everyone, including myself. It was well organised, and well hosted. Congrats to all who took part!

Lots of fun, well organised and well hosted.

Excellent evening. Thank you for opening your home to us. Very talented bunch we were putting in a very special one night only variety show!!

Had a fabulous night last night. A 'no talent' evening of juggling, poems, stories, magic and music, transpired that, far from no talent, it is alive and well. 😀

A really good evening of fun & entertainment.

FUN FUN FUN and a lot of laughs, how different we all are and we all have talent. I would definitely would love to have a go again and do something a bit more daring, maybe I would sing next time and leave my napkins at home!

really good!

A very enjoyable evening spent with such a variety of talent.

A real fun night! I had no idea some meetup members had so much talent. Thanks to everyone that came along and joined in the fun, and special thank for coming up with the idea and hosting the event. I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Great evening thank you for all your hard work lots of laughs and lots and lots of talent 😆

Pencil To Paint: Jan - Mar 2018
Eventbrite.co.uk
17th January - 28th March

“I think that painting today is pure intuition and luck.”
Francis Bacon on Matthew Smith (1909-1992)
For most of us, our relationship with art begins with a line. We take a pencil or a crayon and delineate our idea. In our enthusiasm, we may even attempt to colour it in. In the experience of many, that attempt leads only to disappointment. We know that a painting is more than just a coloured-in drawing, but how do we do it? What exactly is the difference?
This ten week course explores the gulf between drawing and painting and then seeks to provide a bridge between the two disciplines. Beginning with simple pencil studies, we will then develop our work in both charcoal and ink, gaining confidence in our abilities, before embarking on five weeks of painting in bold colour.
This course is open to all-comers and is ideal for beginners or those who wish to take their art in a new direction.
Topics will include:
Mark-making
Line, measurement and proportion
Perspective
Tonal value
Notān
Colour: theory and mixing
Tables and chairs and a roll of newsprint paper are provided. Please bring a drawing board, paper or pad and your preferred drawing media. Materials required for sessions using colour will be discussed nearer the time.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for a small donation.
16:30 - 18:00
Wednesdays: 17, 24, 31 January; 7, 21, 28 February; 7, 14, 21, 28 March 2018
