Netwalking in the Great Outdoors
Eventbrite.co.uk
11am - 1pm

"One step at a time is good walking." Chinese proverb
Join us to stretch your legs over lunch and head outside for a spot of networking in the great outdoors. Walk, talk and network along the banks of the Kennet and Avon Canal with fellow business owners and entrepeneurs. It's the perfect opportunity to reflect on your business or career, bounce ideas about with others, generate new strategies, develop new opportunities and draw inspiration from nature with the added bonus increasing your daily step count.
There will be a dedicated theme and the netwalk will be structured through a series of four questions to encourage conversation and explore different aspects of your business or career. Previous themes have included: New Beginnings, Growth Mindset, The Social Media Maze and Change is the Only Constant.
Netwalkers will meet in the square (near to Graze Bar and Grillstock restaurant) next to Bath Spa Rail Station at 11am. The 4km route will take approximately an hour and climbs gently with stunning views over the city of Bath. After the walk there's the opportunity to continue to talk and network at Cafe au Lait opposite Bath Spa Rail Station (refreshments not included in ticket price).
Please be aware that there will be photos taken during the event that might be used for future advertising purposes. If you don't want to be photographed please let us know via email.
FAQs
What do others say about similar events?
“A thoroughly enjoyable morning meeting like-minded business owners; enjoying the fresh air and exercise. Thank you”. Lynda Walker, Temple Spa
“Netwalking gives you time to talk to new contacts in a relaxing setting. A unique combination of networking and a nice morning out” Simon Tyler, Filmmaker, Highlight Media
“If only all networking could be this enjoyable; an informal yet professional approach". Verity Lacey, Architect, Bath
How many tickets are available for each netwalk?
There is limited space with only fourteen tickets available. These restricted numbers creates the ideal group size and ensures safety is paramount.
When will the next netwalk take place?
Netwalks in the local area (Bath, Bradford on Avon and Devizes) take place approximately once a month in a different location and tickets are only available through eventbrite. Our first netwalk of 2018 will take place on Thursday 25th January 2018 in Bradford on Avon (tickets available through Eventbrite) and the next event will be towards the end of April 2018. Watch this space for further details.
What is the cancellation policy?
Netwalking tickets are non-refundable though it is possible to change the name and substitute a replacement. Please let us know if you are no longer able to attend and the name of your replacement in advance.
What's included in my ticket price?
The netwalking ticket price includes a tasty culinary treat created by Masterchef Wafaa, event organisation, administration (5.90 GBP) and eventbrite booking fees (1.05 GBP). We are constantly reviewing our netwalking service and special "extras" to ensure each netwalk is a completely unqiue and enjoyable experience. Each netwalk is individually organised to avoid any joining or annual membership fees.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Little reminder that an element of common sense should always be applied before heading outside with consideration to the British weather. It's strongly recommended to check the weather the evening before and bring welly boots, umbrella, warm jacket, scarf, hat and water bottle.
Remember to bring along your business cards to exchange contact details with other netwalkers.
Netwalks are unfortunately unsuitable for babies, little people or dogs.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Listening Booth Tour: Bath | Rebellious Sounds Archive
Eventbrite.co.uk
23rd February - 16th March

Rebellious Sounds Archive at No 1 Royal Crescent, Bath: 23rd February - 16th March
Dreadnought South West have commissioned the design and build of a very special mobile exhibition space. Known as the Listening Booth, it is deliberately designed to look like a voting booth to remind users of the centenary of the right to vote for some women. Excerpts from the oral histories collected for the Rebellious Sounds Archive have been loaded on to interactive voting cards. Listeners put on a pair of headphones and choose a voting card to place in the slot; this will play their chosen story of women's activism.
Head along to a venue near you (host locations will be listed here as they are confirmed).
Join us at No 1 Royal Crescent on International Women's Day, 8th March, for a protest poster-making workshop. Email carment.dreadnoughtsw@gmail.com if you are interested in attending.

Pencil To Paint: Feb - Mar 2018
Eventbrite.co.uk
21st February - 28th March

“I think that painting today is pure intuition and luck.”
Francis Bacon on Matthew Smith (1909-1992)
For most of us, our relationship with art begins with a line. We take a pencil or a crayon and delineate our idea. In our enthusiasm, we may even attempt to colour it in. In the experience of many, that attempt leads only to disappointment. We know that a painting is more than just a coloured-in drawing, but how do we do it? What exactly is the difference?
This course explores the gulf between drawing and painting and then seeks to provide a bridge between the two disciplines. Beginning with simple pencil studies, we will then develop our work in both charcoal and ink, gaining confidence in our abilities, before embarking on five weeks of painting in bold colour.
This course is open to all-comers and is ideal for beginners or those who wish to take their art in a new direction.
Topics will include:
Mark-making
Line, measurement and proportion
Perspective
Tonal value
Notān
Colour: theory and mixing
Tables and chairs and a roll of newsprint paper are provided. Please bring a drawing board, paper or pad and your preferred drawing media. Materials required for sessions using colour will be discussed nearer the time.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for a small donation.

ABOUT THE COURSE
Exploring What Matters is a secular, science-based course for people who want to learn how to live happily and spread happiness to those around them.
It was created by the Action for Happiness charity to help people tune in to what really matters in life, connect with people around them and find small ways to start taking action.
On the course you will:

Meet with like-minded people to explore what really matters in life and find new ways of looking at things.

Enjoy expert videos, mindfulness exercises and a handbook full of resources to help you break big ideas into manageable chunks.

Take time each week to think of small actions you can take to create happiness for yourself and those around you.

People find it really valuable and often refer to what they learn on the course as life-changing.
-- Click here to see the impact of the course and what people say about it --
Each week is based around a big question:
Week 1: What really matters in life? We'll explore whether a greater focus on happiness and wellbeing might be better for all of us.
Week 2: What actually makes us happy? We'll explore the role of outer circumstances and inner attitudes in our wellbeing.
Week 3: Can we find peace of mind? We'll explore some of the skills and practices that can help us in difficult times.
Week 4: How should we treat others? We'll explore how to treat others and how we can become more compassionate.
Week 5: What makes for great relationships? We'll explore how our relationship to others impacts our own happiness.
Week 6: Can we be happier at work? We'll explore what makes us happy at work and what can we do about it.
Week 7: Can we build happier communities? We'll explore how to create communities that are more caring, connected and happy.
Week 8: How can we create a happier world? We'll explore how to live in a way that contributes to a happier world, not just for ourselves but for others too.
-- Click here for a sample of Week 1 to give you an idea of what it’s like --
