Seminar 3:'BRANDISM'-Brand psychology, how it can be used to make us buy!
Eventbrite.com
11:30am - 12pm

Visit one of the largest Business Expo Events and networking opportunities in the Region (an event with regional scope including Somerset, Wiltshire, and Bristol).
Seminar 3: 'BRANDISM' - Brand psychology, and how it can be used to make us buy!
Brandism, coined by James Buckley Thorp, is the focus on expertly executed brand psychology that convinces consumers to buy. Branding is more than just picking a 'fancy' logo and a 'lovely' colour scheme. It is a recognised science and its implementation can either mean brand-success or brand-failure. Brandism explores how you can build a personal relationship with your consumer market, how you can encourage upsells and how to treat your brand as a separate entity. Putting these foundational blocks in place at the start will avoid the potentially disastrous pitfalls that may lay ahead.
In conjunction with 'Brandism, the book' by James Buckley Thorp, launching February 2018 worldwide.
More information at http://www.jamesbuckleythorp.com / Twitter @jbuckleythorp

About James Buckley Thorp:

My name is James Buckley Thorp and I founded the national clothing brand, Rupert and Buckley. I also research and study brand psychology and what drives brand relationships from simple changes to complex integration strategies.

I've built, worked for and sold multi-million dollar brands for the last 10 years. Understanding the brand psychology and strategy is imperative in order to avoid disastrous pitfalls that can kill your brand.

I am extremely driven, competent and engaging. I envisage on achieving a lot from life and if it were possible to split myself into several different people so I could achieve all that I want to from life then I would. I want to create solid, known and reputable brands as well as drive, and be part of forward-thinking companies.

I now take part in start-up panels, private one-to-one consultations, webinars and my annual 3-month tour in the UK and San Francisco. In 2018 I will be releasing my co-authored book outlining my top tricks for start-up entrepreneurs, looking for that high-end brand look and feel; and why the relationship you build with your consumer is more important than the font and colour of your brand.

Seminar 4: Understanding GDPR and Seeing the Opportunity it Presents (Bath Expo)
Eventbrite.com
12pm - 12:45pm

Seminar 4: Understanding GDPR and Seeing the Opportunity it Presents

If you only plan to go to one GDPR event in your preparation then this should be your number one choice.

In the bewildering array of material published the general feelings are those of confusion; wondering where to start and fear of fines.
This session will take apart what seems like a complex subject and make it understandable with a clear route to taking action. In essence GDPR is a business change programme and when broken down the required decisions by the directors can be made with confidence.

BIO
Augmentum specialise in taking complex business change issues and breaking them down into understandable and actionable pieces.
GDPR is such an issue and the approach that we have developed is proving very successful evidenced by Augmentum being selected by Milsted Langdon as their GDPR partner and also Sage to support their nationwide roadshows on the GDPR panel.
Possibly more relevant is the increasing number of companies being referred to us to help them navigate through GDPR and one of the most exciting aspects is exploring the opportunities GDPR presents rather than the problems.

Pencil To Paint: Feb - Mar 2018
Eventbrite.co.uk
21st February - 28th March

“I think that painting today is pure intuition and luck.”
Francis Bacon on Matthew Smith (1909-1992)
For most of us, our relationship with art begins with a line. We take a pencil or a crayon and delineate our idea. In our enthusiasm, we may even attempt to colour it in. In the experience of many, that attempt leads only to disappointment. We know that a painting is more than just a coloured-in drawing, but how do we do it? What exactly is the difference?
This course explores the gulf between drawing and painting and then seeks to provide a bridge between the two disciplines. Beginning with simple pencil studies, we will then develop our work in both charcoal and ink, gaining confidence in our abilities, before embarking on five weeks of painting in bold colour.
This course is open to all-comers and is ideal for beginners or those who wish to take their art in a new direction.
Topics will include:
Mark-making
Line, measurement and proportion
Perspective
Tonal value
Notān
Colour: theory and mixing
Tables and chairs and a roll of newsprint paper are provided. Please bring a drawing board, paper or pad and your preferred drawing media. Materials required for sessions using colour will be discussed nearer the time.

Exploring What Matters is a secular, science-based course for people who want to learn how to live happily and spread happiness to those around them.
It was created by the Action for Happiness charity to help people tune in to what really matters in life, connect with people around them and find small ways to start taking action.
On the course you will:

Meet with like-minded people to explore what really matters in life and find new ways of looking at things.

Enjoy expert videos, mindfulness exercises and a handbook full of resources to help you break big ideas into manageable chunks.

Take time each week to think of small actions you can take to create happiness for yourself and those around you.

People find it really valuable and often refer to what they learn on the course as life-changing.
-- Click here to see the impact of the course and what people say about it --

Week 2: What actually makes us happy? We'll explore the role of outer circumstances and inner attitudes in our wellbeing.
Week 3: Can we find peace of mind? We'll explore some of the skills and practices that can help us in difficult times.
Week 4: How should we treat others? We'll explore how to treat others and how we can become more compassionate.
Week 5: What makes for great relationships? We'll explore how our relationship to others impacts our own happiness.
Week 6: Can we be happier at work? We'll explore what makes us happy at work and what can we do about it.

WHO THE COURSE IS FOR
This course is for anyone interested in exploring how to create happiness for themselves or others.
Maybe you’re someone who could do with some new approaches to try out in your own life.
Or maybe you’re passionate about creating happier communities and a happier world.
Either way, by coming together with others locally on this course you can find the inspiration and support you need find the actions that work for you.
Please note: this course is not group therapy, if you are experiencing severe challenges at the moment we recommend seeking alternative professional support.

HOW IT WORKS
The course is run by keen volunteers who are stepping forward to help spread happiness in the local area.
Everyone who joins the course makes a donation of their choice to be there.
It costs Action for Happiness about £90 per person to support each course so we ask all participants to give whatever they can to support themselves and others.
You can give as Supporter (£120) or give the Standard (£90) if you are able, otherwise please give whatever donation works for you - even if you can only give £5 right now you’re as welcome as anyone else :)

What are the highlights of the course?
“Sharing and learning from each other allowed us space to grow and taking away action plans each week focused our minds on pro active action.” ~ Jacqueline, London
“More or less everything is a highlight as it is mightily well researched and factual.” ~ Annick, Lindfield
“Being able to believe that I could be brave enough to change my circumstances/life, in order to be happier/make others happier around me.” ~ Michelle, Farnborough
