It's not about being the best, but to enjoy having a game so don't panic if you've never played before or are a beginner. The people that have been coming along for over two years now are mixed ability, all ages and good fun. You will be very welcome.

It's about having fun!

We have to vacate the school promptly at 12.30pm having already packed away the tables so apologies in advance if I have to cut your game short.

I book and pay in advance. Please make sure that if you RSVP you come so that I am not out of pocket. Thank you.

I will limit numbers to a maximum of four more than tables booked so please be prepared to swap in and out and have some possible non playing time. I will swap people in regularly to minimise this.

Looking forward to it :-)

This is a popular event. Please respect others and change your RSVP to No if you find you cannot attend after all, especially if there are people waiting. Please do not simply not turn up, that prevents others from the opportunity to play and costs me personally. Thank you for your respect.
Bath Skyline Walk - City Nature Challenge
12:30pm - 3pm

Sunday 29th April a guided walk 12:30 – 15:00 , then treat yourself to refreshments and / or lunch at The RingOBells
Join us on part of the National Trust Skyline walk with it’s spectacular views across the City of Bath as part of the City Nature Challenge 2018. Discover meadows, woodland, ponds, ant hills, and more.
The green community groups of Bath and NE Somerset have got together with the National Trust to map out a slightly different trail along the Skyline to let us discover some of the more interesting fauna and flora that we might miss on the usual route.
Starting from the Cleveland Walk bus stop on Bathwick Hill (1), we’ll walk along Bathwick Fields (2), up to Smallcombe Wood (3), across to Rainbow Wood (4), and then back down to the Ring’O’Bells in Widcombe for a well-earned rest and refreshments.
And if you’ve a smart phone, make sure to download the iNaturalist app to record your discoveries and show the world how amazing Bristol and Bath is for people and nature.
Register for Free to let us know you’re coming and do let us know if you’ll be coming to drink, eat, or both afterwards (so we can warn the pub about expected numbers)

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
The meeting point is a residential area so please try and come by foot, bicycle, or public transport.
How long is the walk?
It's about 2.5 miles but will take around 2.5 hours because we'll be pausing to look around.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
If you have queries, please email Vipul on vipulpatel@spaice.com or, on the day, call on 07970 525 535
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No :-)
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

"This highly popular exhibition showcases the best of the region’s artistic talent and is a must for art lovers and collectors alike. The Society was founded in 1904 with 26 members. It has grown over the years to a membership of around 120 diverse, talented artists. Many distinguished 20th-century painters have exhibited with the Society including Walter Sickert, Patrick Heron, Mary Fedden and Howard Hodgkin.

The annual exhibition, which is open to non-members, attracts up to 1,000 entries, with sales doubling in the last few years. The prizes on offer total more than £3,000. During the exhibition members of the public can vote for their favourite artwork; the winner receiving the Public Choice Prize. Pencil To Paint: Apr - Jun 2018
18th April - 13th June

“I think that painting today is pure intuition and luck.”
Francis Bacon on Matthew Smith (1909-1992)
For most of us, our relationship with art begins with a line. We take a pencil or a crayon and delineate our idea. In our enthusiasm, we may even attempt to colour it in. In the experience of many, that attempt leads only to disappointment. We know that a painting is more than just a coloured-in drawing, but how do we do it? What exactly is the difference?
This course explores the gulf between drawing and painting and then seeks to provide a bridge between the two disciplines. Beginning with simple pencil studies, we will then develop our work in both charcoal and ink, gaining confidence in our abilities, before embarking on five weeks of painting in bold colour.
This course is open to all-comers and is ideal for beginners or those who wish to take their art in a new direction.
The theme for this particular 8 week Pencil To Paint course will be abstraction and we will look at how form, gesture and emotion all play their part in successful picture-making, regardless of genre.
Topics will include:
Line, measurement and proportion
Colour: theory and mixing
Tables and chairs and a roll of newsprint paper are provided. Please bring a drawing board, paper or pad and your preferred drawing media. Materials required for sessions using colour will be discussed nearer the time.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for a small donation.
16:30 - 18:00
Wednesdays:  18, 25 April; 02, 09, 23, 30 May; 06, 13 June (8 x 1.5 hour sessions)
