This march is set to be a big one. UNISON, the TUC and other trade unions are putting considerable support behind it. You’ll join thousands of like-minded people under the banner, ‘Step up for Public Services’.
It’s a march with a serious message but it’ll have a fun, family-friendly feel. Dig out your UNISON colours and let’s turn the streets purple. Plus there will be activities to keep your energy bubbling throughout the day.

Tsutefude is a unique way to paint messages from the heart.
By using a calligraphy pen-brush, you can make a postcard of a short message or symbol so that it can show your heart and thoughts in such a powerful and positive way.
Come along and meet the artist Yuki Aoba on her first trip to England.  She’ll introduce this new creative style and you can make a postcard of your message.
We have a choice of dates and locations and all materials are provided
Sat 12th May 10 am -12 pm Widcombe Social Club, Bath, BA2 6AA

Tues 15th May 1:30 - 3:30 pm Rodborough Community Hall, Stroud, GL5 3TZ

Yuki has founded the Tsutefude Foundation, of which there are over 150 Tsutefude members and 17 senior masters, who teach the technique across Japan.
She began the technique when she suffered from bad handwriting as a child. When traditional Japanese calligraphy didn't help her writing style, she designed her own letters and alphabet. The designs and postcards she created delighted the people who received them as they created intimacy and transferred the message much better than normal handwriting.
In Japan, Yuki decided to teach this method of design and called it Tsutefude – meaning ‘message brushing’.

Social Dreaming 2
10am - 4:30pm

Welcome to our second Social Dreaming event in the beautiful setting of the Holburne Museum. Historically in many cultures across the world people  have engaged in the practice of sharing dreams to explore what the dreams have to offer the group. In Western culture we seem to have lost the space to receive these wisdoms.
In Social Dreaming participants are invited to share any dreams, recent or past . The dreams and free associations to them then form the Social Dreaming Matrix. The aim is to explore and reflect on the Matrix to discover the connections that emerge between the dreams and our social selves. No previous experience is necessary.
We look forward to co-creating this event with you.
Lunch is included in the ticket price.

He does what he does with passion and care. He is a kindred spirit.” Goldie, Metalheadz Kasra founded Critical Music label, a drum and bass label based in London, that is widely regarded as being at the forefront of the modern underground scene. A passionate curator and DJ he has grown the label from humble beginnings to one of the most respected imprints in the genre. “I started a label because I wanted to be involved in the music I love, to push new artists, new sounds and to present exciting ideas.” - Kasra Over the years the label has released music from artists across the scene, showcasing a diverse and vital roster covering all angles of the music that Kasra loves so much. Not content with a release schedule bursting with future classics and his own rigorous DJ’ing schedule continually on the up, the label boasts its own branded club nights, Critical Sound. These nights traverse the globe with the Critical family and specially selected guests bringing their own interpretation of the Critical Sound. As a DJ Kasra has done what only a select few people around the world have managed in their careers; being asked to mix FabricLive62, which went on to be one of the most successful Drum & Bass mix albums of the year. Since then Kasra has continued to DJ sets and play label events throughout the UK and Rest of The World, from New Years Eve festival appearances in Australia to much lauded sets at EDC Vegas and beyond. All this while using his A&R’ing skills to release music from the likes of Ivy Lab, Emperor, Hyroglifics and albums from Sam Binga, Enei and the ear crunching debut LP from Mefjus, voted D&B Arena’s Album Of The Year. In 2017 we celebrate 15 years of the most inspiring imprints in dance music today. A time that sees no sign of the label relenting, with club nights and festival appearances across the globe and a roster of releases setting the bar for the best in modern 170 bass music. JAKES BIO: Jakes is many things to many people, to some he is the voice of TC’s smash hits ‘Deep’, ‘Drink’ and ‘Mindkiller’, to others he is the Daddy of Bristolian Dubstep crew H.E.N.C.H and to musical historians he is one of the most interesting vocalists that underground British music can lay claim to. Never afraid to break from tradition and roll with his own flow, Jakes’ voice has become one of the most recognisable in the game and his energetic live performances see him travelling across the globe and smacking down raves from Bristol to Boston with his inimitable style. At present Jakes tours all over the world with various acts including TC, D*Minds and Pendulum and is the founder of the renowned dubstep crew H.E.N.C.H. As the Daddy of H.E.N.C.H, Jakes has been gaining recognition as a producer in his own right with his huge bassline monsters ‘3KOUT’, ‘2 Steps Back’, ‘Titan Dub’ and ‘Warp 9’ featuring in the sets of all the major Dubstep players including N-Type, Mary Anne Hobbs and Skream. Pencil To Paint: Apr - Jun 2018
18th April - 13th June

“I think that painting today is pure intuition and luck.”
Francis Bacon on Matthew Smith (1909-1992)
For most of us, our relationship with art begins with a line. We take a pencil or a crayon and delineate our idea. In our enthusiasm, we may even attempt to colour it in. In the experience of many, that attempt leads only to disappointment. We know that a painting is more than just a coloured-in drawing, but how do we do it? What exactly is the difference?
This course explores the gulf between drawing and painting and then seeks to provide a bridge between the two disciplines. Beginning with simple pencil studies, we will then develop our work in both charcoal and ink, gaining confidence in our abilities, before embarking on five weeks of painting in bold colour.
This course is open to all-comers and is ideal for beginners or those who wish to take their art in a new direction.
The theme for this particular 8 week Pencil To Paint course will be abstraction and we will look at how form, gesture and emotion all play their part in successful picture-making, regardless of genre.
Topics will include:
Line, measurement and proportion
Colour: theory and mixing
Tables and chairs and a roll of newsprint paper are provided. Please bring a drawing board, paper or pad and your preferred drawing media. Materials required for sessions using colour will be discussed nearer the time.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for a small donation.
16:30 - 18:00
Wednesdays:  18, 25 April; 02, 09, 23, 30 May; 06, 13 June (8 x 1.5 hour sessions)
