• Important to know
A day of walking
Bath Girls and Guys 20s and 30s (ish)
10am - 4pm

With the nice weather I thought it might be a nice idea to get out in the sunshine.

So...how about a day of walking. Options for routes are:

1. Head out to Saltford
2. Long loop of Bath - including twin tunnels
3. Walk to Bradford on Avon
4. Bath skyline walk
5. Shorter loop of Bath - maybe out to Bathampton

Whichever way we go, we can break up the walk with pub/cafe stops as people desire.
The Corbyn Effect with Mark Perryman
2pm - 3:30pm

‘The Corbyn Effect’ (Lawrence & Wishart) is an essential read for those seeking to understand the present political moment, Corbyn’s leadership and a possible future for the Labour Party. How has Corbyn changed the Labour Party? Is his support inside and outside the party likely to last?  What can we expect a Corbyn government to achieve?
For this special event in Bath, the book’s author Mark Perryman will be expanding on themes and issues raised in his introductory essay ‘The Great Moving Left Show’ (free chapter can be downloaded here).
‘In the book there is a recurring argument that a leftwing government could be, and should be, as transformative as Margaret Thatcher’s. This is always a sign that British left wing intellectuals are getting excited.’ Andy Beckett, Guardian.
‘At their best these essays extend Corbyn’s “effect” into a clear-eyed contemplation of what his project should be’. Zoe Williams, Times Literary Supplement.
‘Jeremy Corbyn has re-packaged socialism into something progressive and essential. Striving for justice and fairness isn’t a sign of our weakness but the sign of our great strength. That’s The Corbyn Effect for me and this book explains why.’ Maxine Peake.
‘Understanding Corbyn, his significance and his potential, is a key task. This book will surely make an important contribution.’ Martin Jacques, former editor Marxism Today.
Mark Perryman is a member of both the Labour party and Momentum. Co-founder of the self-styled ‘sporting outfitters of intellectual distinction’ aka Philosophy Football, he has also edited numerous books on the politics of the Left, such as ‘Breaking Up Britain’, ‘Imagined Nation’, ‘The Moderniser’s  Dilemma’ and ‘The Blair Agenda’.
There is no entry charge but donations on the door towards expenses would be appreciated.

Does anyone have a gazebo we can use please? We then need a top table, a fine table cloth, and a candelabra because we’re doing this in style.
