"What does a work of art taste like? Does a painting have a unique smell? Enjoy a sensory exploration of different works of art through taste and smell with award-winning food historian Tasha Marks, founder of AVM Curiosities. This Aroma-Tour will match works of art to a bespoke smell or taste in the form of perfume tabs and a drink, each individually packaged for you to keep. In this treasure hunt you’ll start thinking about art in a different way. Smell is the sense most closely linked to memory so it’s an acquaintance with an artwork that you’ll never forget.

AVM Curiosities has been exploring the relationship between art and food through a series of events and edible interventions since 2011. Founded by Tasha Marks, (Grey Goose Iconoclast of Taste 2013, Selfridges Bright Young Thing 2013 and Young British Foodie 2013 – Experiential Finalist) AVM Curiosities champions the use of food as an artistic medium, with projects ranging from museum exhibitions and sculptural installations to interactive lectures and limited-edition confectionery."

Interested in trying Malaysian food...???

The Good Bear Cafe on Bear Flat is hosting a Malaysian Supper Club on Thursday 21st & Friday 22nd, with Masterchef 2014 winner Ping Coombes.

Cost = £45 excluding drinks. Initially this is just a post to see if anyone is interested and as spaces are limited I will need to know ASAP. I'm proposing the Friday to attend, but if numbers get high, I'm happy to get sittiings for both nights, the only thing is that on the Thursday night, a member will have to step-up and act as a host... its simple to do really.... as even I can do it...! Ha! Ha! I have set the limit to 8 attendees, but not yet booked yet... so please be quick in RSVP'ing... if you are interested... so that I can reserve places. Please be aware that payment is to be up-front and non refundable... if you can not make it... its up to you to sell your place onto someone else.

To quote Ping... "I see supper club as a place not just for food but somewhere you arrive as strangers but part as friends. It is like a one big dinner party".

Arrival
Please arrive at 7.00pm for drinks. Mauro, the host will recommend some specially selected drinks for the evening before food is served at 7.30pm. Everyone is served at the same time so please make sure you are here a little bit before. Drinks are extra and payable on the night.

Menu:
Menu is a surprise and consists of 4 courses. If you have any dietary requirements, please let me know when you book. Ping can usually accommodate dietaries but if not I will advise before the booking is confirmed.

Sitting Plan:
Everyone will sit together in long tables and our party will be grouped together... and its an informal event.
The Spiders Web: Britain's Second Empire
Eventbrite.co.uk
7:30pm - 10:30pm

The Spider’s Web: Britain’s Second Empire, is a documentary film that shows how Britain transformed from a colonial power into a global financial power. At the demise of empire, City of London financial interests created a web of offshore secrecy jurisdictions that captured wealth from across the globe and hid it behind obscure financial structures in a web of offshore islands. Today, up to half of global offshore wealth may be hidden in British offshore jurisdictions and Britain and its offshore jurisdictions are the largest global players in the world of international finance. How did this come about, and what impact does it have on the world today? This is what the Spider’s Web sets out to investigate.
With contributions from leading experts, academics, former insiders and campaigners for social justice, the use of stylized b-roll and archive footage, the Spider’s Web reveals how in the world of international finance, corruption and secrecy have prevailed over regulation and transparency, and the UK is right at the heart of this.
Bath social bar night
The Bath & Bristol Everything Meetup Group
8:30pm - 11pm

I've been asked by a few Meetupers recently to put this popular venue on again for the Bath social bar night. Nestled just off Pultney Bridge in Bath, this lovely underground cavern has piped music, plenty of very comfortable seating, a few tables and even an indoor well! Boston bar themed, it has a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere and can make some wicked cocktails if that is your thing plus a few bottled beers and assorted other soft drinks. So, Friday nights in Bath need not be boring when you have the combination of a happy band of Meetupers and a lovely venue such as this. So what are you waiting for? Please do come along and join in all the fun....because without you, a venue is still just a venue!
