Thursday Nature Reserves Walk, and Drinks in the Port of Call
The Bath & Bristol Everything Meetup Group
10:45am - 2pm

Today's walk explores nature reserves in Sneyd Park (thanks to Mike Edkins for this photo).

Meet outside Cafe Retreat 10.45 am onwards, for a prompt 11.00 am start. Paul, (today's Walk Leader), Jeff, and Roy, will be wearing yellow hi-vis tabards.

Some uneven tracks, and some uphill paths. Walking boots advisable, for grip, and for ankle support.

Dogs are welcome on the walk. Please can dog owners be mindful that they may need to keep their dog on a lead, if it's causing any problems for other dogs, or walkers.

The walk finishes back at Cafe Retreat around 12.30 pm. For those wanting a drink, and/or lunch afterwards, there will be an optional five minute stroll to the Port of Call.

Today's walk is free, and is a joint event with the Downs Walking Group, (a Ramblers Walking for Health group). If you've not already joined the Downs Walking Group, please fill in a very short Walker Registration Form at the start of the walk. On the form, you are asked to tick a box 'to confirm you understand you take part at your own risk, and will seek medical advice if appropriate'. No payment is required.

Parking:

Five hours free parking, (9.00 am - 5.00 pm), in the spaces marked with broken white lines in Stoke Road, and adjoining roads. Spaces nearest the cafe are often taken by 11.00 am, so please allow time to park further away, (e.g. on Ladies Mile, or in Saville Road), and then to walk over to the cafe.

Advice from NHS Choices website on avoiding tick bites:

"Ticks are small spider-like creatures that are mainly found in woodland and heath areas. They attach to your skin, suck your blood and can cause Lyme disease in some cases. You can reduce your risk of being bitten by a tick if you:

Keep to footpaths and avoid long grass when out walking.

Wear appropriate clothing in tick-infested areas (a long sleeved shirt and trousers tucked into your socks).

Wear light-coloured fabrics that may help you spot a tick on your clothes.

Use insect repellent on exposed skin.

Inspect your skin for ticks, particularly at the end of the day, including your head, neck and skin folds (armpits, groin, and waistband).

Check your children's head and neck areas, including their scalp making sure ticks are not brought home on your clothes.

Check your pets to help ensure they don't bring ticks into your home in their fur.

It's important to remove any ticks you find as soon as possible."

Apricity Theatre: Theatre Uncut

5pm - 6pm

The Power of Plumbing by Sabrina Mahfouz
In a future where resources are scarce it’s the women that hold the power

This short one-woman show explores themes of gender, power and, well, plumbing. Join Apricity Theatre as we take part in Theatre Uncut and present this energetic exploration of a dystopian future where women wear the boiler suits.
Theatre Uncut was created to get people thinking, talking and taking action on the events that are happening in the world around them.
The idea is simple. Playwrights from a selection of countries are asked to write brand new short plays in response to their current political situation. These scripts are then made available for anyone to perform anywhere for a limited period.
Theatre Uncut is run by artistic directors Emma Callander and Hannah Price.
