The Great Game is a daily exciting Treasure Hunt that you do on your own time when ever you want around the beautiful City of Bath. Upon purchasing your ticket please email info@ggtreasurehunts.com to redeem. There a different tickets for different groups of people. 
Single route - for 1-2 people or 3-4 people is great for seeing the sights and using your brain.
Once the ticket is redeemed via email your treasure hunt pack will be mailed out to you so please provided your address in your email. Each pack includes discount wrist bands for each player, a clipboard, a real compass, a map, the clues sheet, a prize sheet, a brief history of Bath and a pen.
Let us know the time you wish to begin your hunt and we will book you a table at the finishing "Treasure" a historic Bath Pub steeped in History, where you will 20% off your food and drink bill.
The Hunt starts at Bath Train Station and takes roughly 2-3 hours to complete, solving clues and riddles and puzzles as you wind through Bath viewing the sites of the city and trying to find the "Treasure" - The pub, where you simply show your Treasure Hunt wrist band to the staff to get your 20% discount on your food and drink bill.

Footprint Behind-the-Scenes Tours at Bath Abbey for Visit Bath Members

Bath Abbey would like to invite Visit Bath members to join them on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Footprint project. 
Put on a hard hat and take a sneak peek at the historic floor as it is saved from collapse and its 891 memorial stones are conserved. Discover the history of the floor, just why it is collapsing and the complex work carried out as part of the Abbey’s Footprint project. Tours last about 1hour 15 minutes. The Visit Bath members’ tour will be held on 8th November from 9:30am.
Make sure you book on the Visit Bath members’ tour quickly as there are limited spaces.
The tours at Bath Abbey started on 22nd October, with one tour running at 11am every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The tours will stop on 14th December for a few weeks for Christmas, and will restart in January.

Two Tunnels Bike Ride - Thursday 8th November

Come along and enjoy a guided cycle ride by Gemma Ker-Bridges along part of the famous Bath Two Tunnels route.  The ride will include some lovely car-free cycling, taking you from the centre of Bath along cycle paths through two tunnels: the Devonshire Tunnel at Bloomfield and the Combe Down Tunnel at Combe Down.  
Bike hire is included free.
Places are very limited, so please only sign up if you can attend.   
Please wear appropriate clothes and footwear.  Also if you want to bring along any drinks or snacks for the ride please do so.

Beyond the Ivory Towers : Working Towards Greater Equality
Uncovering the dark side of inequalities of our great public institutions like parliament, the health service and the entertainment industry has recently preoccupied discourse and media attention. Similar structural inequalities experienced by women and people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds (BME) is also under scrutiny in higher education. Universities pride themselves as being progressive and liberal institutions delivering a public good. However, the exposure of inequalities, such as gaps in pay, inequality in promotion and BME student attainment, challenges core beliefs. What are some of the conflicting narratives of university cultures, policies and practice as played out in evidence based ‘stories’ illustrating inequalities from the perspective of students, staff and governance? The seminar will explore these stories to focus on perspectives beyond the ‘ivory towers’ of prestige and privilege. The first story is based on the journey taken by a large university that took an institution wide transformational approach to addressing the gap in attainment between white and BME students. The second draws from empirical evidence of the opportunities and realities of progression and success for women in higher education careers. Finally, some questions will be asked about the governance of universities and the role of external drivers in accelerating greater equality for example levers used in the national assessment of research excellence.

With 80% of the council’s budget allocated to adult social care what could the city achieve if it chose Wellbeing as a strategic pillar for economic, social and place development?The aim of the session is to identify where local Fellows can support existing initiatives, build on and stretch thinking to date, as well as stimulate discussion on where the gaps are that society can help fill. We’ll also be continuing to develop our own plans for positive change. There will, as always, be the opportunity to network too.

Debs has stage 4 bowel cancer and has taken to social media to share the highs and lows of living with and living well with cancer. With a glass of fizz in hand and plenty of liptstick on Debs has been on national TV and radio reframing the way in which we talk about this horrendous disease. 
Back at super cool Walcot House Katy and Sarah plan a most Trouble Lounge evening of looking at living with cancer. Lets chat poo, boobs, lumps, bumps, meds and operations together with some of the unexpected highlights that come with the worst of times.

Badminton is booked for 8:00pm on Thursday 8th November (Main Hall court 1) at Kingsdown Sports Centre, Portland Street, BS2 8HL. All are welcome, it's a 60 minute long session and we may head to a nearby pub afterwards.

Please let me know if you are going to attend by Wednesday at the latest. I would prefer that we have at least 4 players, otherwise I may cancel the booking.

Note: When arriving at reception you will need to say that you're attending a badminton session in my name (Matthew Barker). Also, they may require that you to sign up for a (free) Everyone Active membership.

FAQ

Q: How does it work?
A: It's pretty informal, but I would like to know in advance if you are going to attend. (If, by the day before the booking, fewer than 4 people say they are going, I may cancel the booking.) On the day, just turn up in the sports hall with your kit at the booked time and we'll play as many games as we can in the time, rotating through the available players after each one. Usually we play doubles up to 11 points, but this can vary depending on the number of players. Afterwards, we often go to a nearby pub afterwards for a drink and a chat.

Q: How often do you play?
A: Usually every two weeks.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Between £1 and £5 per session, depending on how many people turn up, but usually between £1.50 and £2.50.

Q: What is the standard of play?
A: This is hard to specify, but it's mixed and generally not high, so a novice shouldn't find it too challenging.

Q: How many courts are booked?
A: Only one court is booked, but if there are more than 4 people we play to 11 points (rather than the usual 21) to allow waiting players to get a game more often.

Q: Who can attend?
A: It is open to all (and usually has a combination of men and women). Come along and see if it suits you.

Q: I'm new to the group, how can I find you?
A: Sometimes the expected court number will be specified in advance, otherwise if you don't fancy asking around, you can let me know you'll be coming and I can arrange to meet you.

Q: What parking facilities are there?
A: The sports centre has its own car parks and there is usually on-street parking nearby. There are also bicycle stands outside the entrance.

Q: Can I just turn up for the pub afterwards?
A: Of course, though we don't always go and the choice of pub can vary so it's best to let me know in advance.

Q: Do I need my own racquet?
A: Preferably, though you can hire one from the sports centre (currently for £2 with £5 deposit). For newcomers, I can sometimes bring a spare on request.

Q: What type of shuttles are used?
A: Feather shuttles are provided and included in the session cost.

Q: What rules do you play with?

Being a parent is one of life’s greatest joys, but it is also one of its biggest  challenges. There’s hardly a mum or dad on the face of the earth who, at times, is not overawed by the task of parenting and there’s no such thing as a perfect  parent.
Parentalk is for parents of children aged up to the early teenage years, giving you the opportunity to talk about   the day-to-day challenges you face, as well as sharing the things that are going well. 
Among other things we will be able to discuss feeling inadequate as a parent; love; communication in your family; boundaries and battles; letting go etc etc.
So come along and join other imperfect parents on a Wednesday evening for coffee, homemade cakes and chat.
The course is brought to you by the Families Ministry of Holy Trinity Church Combe Down. Course co-ordinator Mrs Sharon Blair has years of experience in supporting families. She is joined by presenters Nicky Coutier and Rachel Stewart.

For most of us, our relationship with art begins with a line. We take a pencil or a crayon and delineate our idea. In our enthusiasm, we may even attempt to colour it in. In the experience of many, that attempt leads only to disappointment. We know that a painting is more than just a coloured-in drawing, but how do we do it? What exactly is the difference?
This course explores the gulf between drawing and painting and then seeks to provide a bridge between the two disciplines. Beginning with simple pencil studies, we will then develop our work in both charcoal and ink, gaining confidence in our abilities, before embarking on five weeks of painting in bold colour.
This course is open to all-comers and is ideal for beginners or those who wish to take their art in a new direction. 
The theme for this particular 10 week Pencil To Paint course will be 'still life' and we will look at how artists from Caravaggio to Cezanne used tonality, form and colour to compose their paintings.
Topics will include:
Mark-making
Line, measurement and proportion
Notān
Colour: theory and mixing
Tables and chairs and a roll of newsprint paper are provided. Please bring a drawing board, paper or pad and your preferred drawing media. Materials required for sessions using colour will be discussed nearer the time.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for a small donation.
