The workshop includes perspective shifting exercises and a framework for living with uncertainty without succumbing to paralysis or burn-out.
The workshops are facilitated by Rosie Jones, a psychologist and facilitator trained in The Work That Reconnects, a methodology developed by eco-philosopher Joanna Macy.
Participants can attend an individual workshop or come on a regular basis for ongoing resilience and solidarity building.
Workshops are offered in the Gift Economy, encouraging connection through gratitude, which can be expressed in many ways, including 'paying it forward', practical help, or donation.
Two private rooms and a dorm room are available at 175 for participants who need to stay overnight on Friday or Saturday.
There are limited spaces in the workshop so please contact Rosie (email below) if you book a place but find you are unable to attend.

No, just show up.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Email rosienjones@yahoo.co.uk for any further information.

Participants are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport to reach the venue. However we appreciate you may need to drive and if so please try to connnect on Facebook for a lift share. There is limited on-street parking in front of the house or on Westerleigh Road.
Walking
From the city centre we suggest making the 30-40 minute walk uphill, much of which is on footpaths, using the time to connect with nature and reflect on your intentions for the workshop. From Prior Park Road enter and walk up through Bath Abbey Cemetary, in front of the chapel, through the small wood and then turn left up Popes Walk for quarter of a mile. At the top of the hill follow the footpath around the perimeter of the Curo development site then along the side of Combe Down Rugby field. Continue straight along the access lane called Bramble Way. Turn right when you reach Bradford Road and 175 is 100 yards along on the right.
Cycling
From the Bath-Bristol cyclepath go through the first of the 'Two Tunnels', exiting the cyclepath on Lyncombe Vale. Follow Lyncombe Vale east then turn right onto Perrymead. Follow Perrymead up a long steep hill till it becomes Foxhill. Go straight up Foxhill or wiggle through the new development to Bradford Road then turn left, and you will find 175 on the left.
Public transport
175 is a 10 minute bus ride from Bath city centre bus and railway station. Bus number 2 stops close by on Bradford Road.

This event is being delivered by the following women who are passionate about educating and inspiring others to live a healthy and happy lifestyle.
Samantha Smallwood

Samantha is a heart-focussed healer, spiritual teacher, intuitive counsellor and contemporary mystic based in Bath.  Following a debilitating health crisis and subsequent spiritual wake-up-call in 1993, she was drawn into the healing arts where she discovered her passion for supporting others in their development of personal empowerment, deeper spiritual self-esteem, a more profound sense of joyful-connectedness to their interior life, and a clearer alignment with the template of their soul’s journey in this lifetime. Samm has been facilitating an understanding and clear grasp of what it truly means to be “a spiritual being living in a physical world” for over 20 years, and continues this work through one-on-one healing and intuitive sessions, as well as through workshops and retreats,   As a founder of The Organic Mystic community, which is both local and global, she compassionately teaches – all with a good sense of fun and a healthy dose of clear, light-hearted guidance – practical application of sacred knowledge, universal truth and divine wisdom to all manner of life-events, everyday experiences and situations.  No matter the topic… be it relationships, the human energy system, the dark night of the soul, mystical law, a healing crisis, development of intuition, the subconscious message in a dream, the current state of human consciousness on the planet, archetypal perspective or the simple purpose in a back-ache… helping you find, integrate and celebrate the rich, beautiful, creative and powerful truths within the tapestry of your life, and then anchoring them into an intimate and “organic” relationship with whatever you believe your spiritual self or the Divine to be, in order to create congruence, transformation and healing, is Samm’s greatest joy.  And whilst on this journey of healing, discovery and personal transformation, she is also very happy being a wife and step-mum.

Studying the depths of the practice in India has been the best experience of my whole life (after giving birth to my daughter Penelope of course).
I have qualified in Ashtanga but I love mixing the practice up with other poses too to keep my classes fresh and innovative. I love what I do and I love passing it on to my students! There is so much to learn from each other in every class.

Walking Meditation
Walking Meditation in Bath
3pm - 4pm

Hi all! Thanks for the huge interest. Here are the details of our first meetup.

We will start with an introductory hello, and a brief discussion of what walking meditation is and what you can expect from it. This will also be an opportunity to see what expectations you might have, so we all know where we are starting out from as a group.

Then we’ll take part in a short grounding meditation. This will be a body scan meditation, which has a great way of getting you ready for the main event.

After that, we’ll go through the basic practice for the week. In this first week, we will be using a Pranayama-style walking meditation, which involves walking while counting breaths. In later weeks, we will utilize other methods, such as mindfulness, Zen walking meditation, and general awareness.

Then comes the main event – walking! We’ll engage in just 20 minutes or so of this quiet walking meditation, as it is only the first meetup.

Afterwards we can discuss the meditation, what matched up with expectations and what was surprising.

A few things to note:

Firstly, please make sure you wear footwear that you are happy walking in. It sounds obvious, but it’s important that you’re comfortable. It will be an easy walk, on grass and pathways, so just whatever you would normally wear for that. Also ensure you are warm enough, as we won’t be walking fast enough to really warm the body – and feeling cold might be something of a distraction!

Please bring a bottle of water with you as well.

I am hopeful that this will be a gentle and easygoing introduction to walking meditation. If you have never done walking meditation, you should find this to be a good insight into it. If you have never meditated at all, any more than twenty minutes would likely be too long. It’s going to be fairly informal, so please feel free to pop along and to bring anyone with you who might want to come.

Thank you, and please do get in touch with any questions you might have.

Parentalk is for parents of children aged up to the early teenage years, giving you the opportunity to talk about   the day-to-day challenges you face, as well as sharing the things that are going well.
Among other things we will be able to discuss feeling inadequate as a parent; love; communication in your family; boundaries and battles; letting go etc etc.
So come along and join other imperfect parents on a Wednesday evening for coffee, homemade cakes and chat.
The course is brought to you by the Families Ministry of Holy Trinity Church Combe Down. Course co-ordinator Mrs Sharon Blair has years of experience in supporting families. She is joined by presenters Nicky Coutier and Rachel Stewart.

Pencil To Paint: Sep - Dec 2018
Eventbrite.co.uk
26th September - 5th December

“I think that painting today is pure intuition and luck.”
Francis Bacon on Matthew Smith (1909-1992)
For most of us, our relationship with art begins with a line. We take a pencil or a crayon and delineate our idea. In our enthusiasm, we may even attempt to colour it in. In the experience of many, that attempt leads only to disappointment. We know that a painting is more than just a coloured-in drawing, but how do we do it? What exactly is the difference?
This course explores the gulf between drawing and painting and then seeks to provide a bridge between the two disciplines. Beginning with simple pencil studies, we will then develop our work in both charcoal and ink, gaining confidence in our abilities, before embarking on five weeks of painting in bold colour.
This course is open to all-comers and is ideal for beginners or those who wish to take their art in a new direction.
The theme for this particular 10 week Pencil To Paint course will be 'still life' and we will look at how artists from Caravaggio to Cezanne used tonality, form and colour to compose their paintings.
Topics will include:
Mark-making
Line, measurement and proportion
Notān
Colour: theory and mixing
Tables and chairs and a roll of newsprint paper are provided. Please bring a drawing board, paper or pad and your preferred drawing media. Materials required for sessions using colour will be discussed nearer the time.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for a small donation.

Wednesdays:  26 September; 03, 10, 17, 24 ,October; 07, 14, 21, 28 November; 05 December  - 10 x 1.5 hour sessions)
