Managing Teams, Successfully
Eventbrite.co.uk
1pm - 5pm

Our 1/2-day training seminar provides new and developing managers with relevant knowledge and skills to manage themselves and their team in the real world. We also consider the 'voice of experience' and some 'tricks of the trade'.
Price includes attendance at the training seminar, plus an optional 45-minute 1-2-1 training session per attendee within 1 month of the event using Skype or similar tech as appropriate. Attendees can therefore maximise the way in which they use their learning.

You will be able to immediately improve your approach and performance as a manager. You will feel more informed and able to do your job. The likelihood of you making avoidable mistakes decreases.
You will feel more knowledgeable, able and confident. Your business and team will be more confident, efficient and effective.

The seminar covers:
a. Processes to implement immediately, including relevant elements of planning and project management.
c. Common management tools (and how to use them, including aspects like time management, lessons learned, people management.
d. Leadership techniques and tricks to implement immediately.

2 quick promises:
1. The seminar is not a case of ‘death by PowerPoint’. There is interactive activity, and skills are taught using things other than a computer.
2. Although oriented towards people in commercial organisations, the content is generic in nature so it should be applicable to people from many walks of life.

10th October - 21st November

Being a parent is one of life’s greatest joys, but it is also one of its biggest  challenges. There’s hardly a mum or dad on the face of the earth who, at times, is not overawed by the task of parenting and there’s no such thing as a perfect  parent.
Parentalk is for parents of children aged up to the early teenage years, giving you the opportunity to talk about   the day-to-day challenges you face, as well as sharing the things that are going well.
Among other things we will be able to discuss feeling inadequate as a parent; love; communication in your family; boundaries and battles; letting go etc etc.
So come along and join other imperfect parents on a Wednesday evening for coffee, homemade cakes and chat.
The course is brought to you by the Families Ministry of Holy Trinity Church Combe Down. Course co-ordinator Mrs Sharon Blair has years of experience in supporting families. She is joined by presenters Nicky Coutier and Rachel Stewart.

Pencil To Paint: Sep - Dec 2018
Eventbrite.co.uk
26th September - 5th December

“I think that painting today is pure intuition and luck.”
Francis Bacon on Matthew Smith (1909-1992)
For most of us, our relationship with art begins with a line. We take a pencil or a crayon and delineate our idea. In our enthusiasm, we may even attempt to colour it in. In the experience of many, that attempt leads only to disappointment. We know that a painting is more than just a coloured-in drawing, but how do we do it? What exactly is the difference?
This course explores the gulf between drawing and painting and then seeks to provide a bridge between the two disciplines. Beginning with simple pencil studies, we will then develop our work in both charcoal and ink, gaining confidence in our abilities, before embarking on five weeks of painting in bold colour.
This course is open to all-comers and is ideal for beginners or those who wish to take their art in a new direction.
The theme for this particular 10 week Pencil To Paint course will be 'still life' and we will look at how artists from Caravaggio to Cezanne used tonality, form and colour to compose their paintings.
Topics will include:
Mark-making
Line, measurement and proportion
Notān
Colour: theory and mixing
Tables and chairs and a roll of newsprint paper are provided. Please bring a drawing board, paper or pad and your preferred drawing media. Materials required for sessions using colour will be discussed nearer the time.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for a small donation.
16:30 - 18:00
Wednesdays:  26 September; 03, 10, 17, 24 ,October; 07, 14, 21, 28 November; 05 December  - 10 x 1.5 hour sessions)
