Delegation training for managers
Eventbrite.co.uk
1pm - 5pm

Delegating can seem like a nightmare for new and developing managers – especially if it does not come naturally and there is significant expectation riding on the results.
This focussed, relevant and time-efficient course teaches new and developing managers how to delegate effectively at work.
The course covers:
!  The organisation and personal context in which delegation occurs
!  The practicalities of delegating – requirements, approaches, tools and techniques
!  Personal communication – skills, appearance and pitfalls
!  Getting the most out of your team and adapting as necessary

This course goes beyond basic lists of things to do and considers practical aspects to improve confidence and awareness. Content draws on a number of management and leadership disciplines to provide a complete package. Attendees will learn how to delegate effectively, so they can start to implement their newfound abilities the very next day, to improve efficiency and engagement within their team – and reduce stress, fear and wasted time for themselves.

The course will be led by Rob Hart, a qualified manager and leader with over 20 years’ experience in various cultures and situations. Rob started his career as an Army Officer, and since leaving the military in 2005 has worked as a United Nations official, as a contractor and consultant to Government, in business start-ups and with SMEs in the UK and abroad, in academia and in a large corporate professional services firm. Rob now shares his experience and lessons learned with others, to help them to be the best manager and leader that they can be.

Pencil To Paint: Sep - Dec 2018
Eventbrite.co.uk
26th September - 5th December

“I think that painting today is pure intuition and luck.”
Francis Bacon on Matthew Smith (1909-1992)
For most of us, our relationship with art begins with a line. We take a pencil or a crayon and delineate our idea. In our enthusiasm, we may even attempt to colour it in. In the experience of many, that attempt leads only to disappointment. We know that a painting is more than just a coloured-in drawing, but how do we do it? What exactly is the difference?
This course explores the gulf between drawing and painting and then seeks to provide a bridge between the two disciplines. Beginning with simple pencil studies, we will then develop our work in both charcoal and ink, gaining confidence in our abilities, before embarking on five weeks of painting in bold colour.
This course is open to all-comers and is ideal for beginners or those who wish to take their art in a new direction.
The theme for this particular 10 week Pencil To Paint course will be 'still life' and we will look at how artists from Caravaggio to Cezanne used tonality, form and colour to compose their paintings.
Topics will include:
Mark-making
Line, measurement and proportion
Notān
Colour: theory and mixing
Tables and chairs and a roll of newsprint paper are provided. Please bring a drawing board, paper or pad and your preferred drawing media. Materials required for sessions using colour will be discussed nearer the time.
